Year 4 Maths - Symmetry

In Mathematics Year 4 have been learning all about symmetry. We learnt about how some images and objects have a line of symmetry, so if you drew a line down the middle of them both sides would be a mirror image of each other. We then had a go at designing our own symmetrical patterns and identifying the line/s of symmetry. Take a look at some of the patterns we produced.

What every day objects can you think of that have a line of symmetry?

  1. Lots of my containers and dream catchers are symmetrical. Some have only 1 line of symmetry but others have more.

  2. What a great example of a symmetrical object Julia, well done! Let us know if you find any more.
