Beyond the Bin - What Is In Our Classroom Bins?

This week we have been looking at what is in our classroom rubbish bins and how well we use our recycling bins. We tipped our bin rubbish onto a plastic mat and sorted through our waste. We discussed items that had been misplaced in the bin and where they should have been. We also discussed where our waste goes once we place it in the bins.

Record the waste you have at the end of the day in your lunch box.

What items could you recycle or could you have found a better (more sustainable) way to pack your food?

  1. Today I had two pieces of rubbish. The first piece of rubbish that I had was a sweet and sour sauce packet. I could have bought a sweet a sour sauce bottle and used a container. My second piece of rubbish was a cheese packet. I could have cut up my own cheese and put that in. J.T.

  2. Great thinking J.T...I wonder if you can challenge yourself to having at least one waste free lunch each week? Mrs E

  4. My lunch is packed in containers every day so we don't really have rubbish in our lunch boxes. We eat all our food so we try not waste. The packages that we have at home we recycle what we can.
