Little Bits - Bubble Flutes

As part of our Little Bits rotations some of the Dahls have had the opportunity to experiment with designing, making, testing and appraising different electronic circuits. We used power, sound trigger and fan bits to create a circuit, which we attached to a plastic cup with some tape, these became our Bubble Flute creations. We had to use a special screwdriver to test and adjust the sensitivity of the sound trigger and then we dipped the end of our cups into some bubble solution. As we blew and made different noises into the sound trigger it activated the fan and we were able to watch bubbles come out! We had so much fun!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Yesterday we had some crazy weather at Fraser Primary. We started the day wet and windy, with some inside play at recess and we finished with a beautiful rainbow over our classrooms and some sunshine! We just wanted to share the gorgeous picture below that Mrs. Burgess took of our classroom rainbow.

3/4 Assembly

On Friday the Dahls hosted an amazing assembly that we hope many of you were able to come along to and enjoy. We talked about and showed some photos of our Kindness Trees and sang our school values song for everyone. Then we read some incredible Super Sentences that we have been working on during Work On Writing (WOW). We wrote our sentences using photos showing some students on their dangerous journeys to school. We sang 'Count On Me', which is our school community song that all of the classes at Fraser have been learning in Performing Arts. Our teachers also showed off their new kindness 

t-shirts, that were made specially for them by Di Sullivan, who is a Fraser Mum.

What was your favorite part of the 3/4 assembly?

Fine Motor

Three times every week each of the classes in The Dahls participate in fine motor rotations, to help us to build strength and coordination in in our fingers and hands in preparation for formal handwriting later in semester two. We participate in lots of different activities including scissor skills, using chopsticks, tweezers and pegs to move objects, balancing small objects, building, weaving, threading, tracing and colouring. Take a look at just some of the different fine motor activities that we get to work on.

 

What kinds of activities do you do at home, that help you to work your finger and hand muscles?

Monday Afternoon Rotations

Every Monday afternoon each of the Year 3/4 classes have the opportunity to participate in a range of different learning experiences. Each class currently rotates through a range of dance, PE, STEM, coding and art activities. 

In PE and dance we are focusing on coordination and fundamental movement skills, during coding and STEM we are working on our problem solving skills and in art we are exploring lines using warm and cool colours.
