Sonic The Hedgehog

This term we have been learning about cartooning and using mixed media to create character drawings during visual arts. This week we learnt about using markers to sketch a character and then learnt how to use oil pastels to give tone and shading to our drawings. We are super excited with what a great job we all did.

What are some of the tips you have learnt during our drawing and shading lessons?

For example:

I learnt that it is really helpful, to use my finger to work out the position of what I am about to draw on the paper, before I put my marker on the paper.

Community

In Civics and Citizenship we have been exploring how we can participate in our community. Today we looked at 

'The Giving Wheel'. 

Can you give some specific examples of ways we can participate in our community?

e.g. Time & Energy - I can join Clean up Australia and help keep my community clean.

Make the Shape

In Maths, Year 4 students have been exploring the properties of polygons. They had to use 6 equilateral triangles to make a range of shapes. 

        

Can you make any other shapes using 6 equilateral triangles?

Rostrum Public Speaking

All students will present a speech to their class during weeks 2 or 3 next term. 

Topic
Students only need to choose one of the provided topics if they wish to be considered to represent the class in the school final during week 4. Students should choose a topic they are passionate about.

Timing
Students wishing to be considered for the school final should ensure their speech is approximately 3 minutes. Otherwise, speeches should be between 1 1/2 - 3 minutes long.

Harry Potter

This term we have been listening to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. During Visual Arts, we have followed instructions to sketch some of our favourite characters. Can you work out who they are?

Melting Moments

We have been hard at work on our Science Inquiry called Melting Moments. We have been performing experiments to investigate how different solids and liquids are affected by heating, cooling and freezing.
