In
Science, Year 3/4 have been learning about flowering plants. We have investigated
the process of germination, the stages in a plant's life cycle and what plants
need for growth.
We began by investigating the outside
and inside appearance of a seed, when dry and when soaked in water, next we all
learned about the changes that occur in a germinating seed. Then as a group we
looked at the internal parts of a flower and the role they play in pollination.
Everyone then had the opportunity to plant a broad bean seed, in our very own
mini plant nurseries. Finally, we all learnt about the seeds in and on different
fruits and about how fruits develop.
Take a look below at some of
our investigations and how our bean seeds are progressing so far.
What is something new or interesting that you have learned about plants, seeds, flowers, germination or pollination?
