Learning to Code

This term we have been learning to code basic animations and game programs using Scratch.

Our first project was called 'Rock Band' and it taught us how to add sound and music to our projects, as well as how to change the look of our sprite (a sprite is the code term for the characters/people in our projects).

The second project that we worked on is called 'Lost in Space' and it taught us how to combine blocks of code to make a simple animation.

Our most recent project has been, 'Ghostbusters' which taught us about making a sprite hide and reappear as well as turning our project into a game using a timer and counter.

We have been working incredibly hard on all of our projects and have really had to develop our problem solving skills. Take a look at some of the code that we have written.

Readers' Workshop

  Carla's Sandwich

Carla’s classmates make fun of her sandwich choices because they were different or unique. When was a time someone made fun of you because you liked something different.
How did this make you feel?

Orienteering

Over the last 4 weeks, Year 3/4 have been incredibly lucky to be able to participate in weekly Orienteering lessons, run by Anita from Orienteering ACT. The aim in orienteering is to navigate your way around a course with a series of numbered checkpoints. The course is marked on a map  with coloured symbols. We have been learning about compass points for direction, how to read maps and how to use specialist Orienteering equipment such as SI Sticks to record our accuracy and time around a mapped course.Take a look at some of the fantastic photos of our Orienteering experience.
